Hospice Staffers Receive Certification

December 7, 2007

Asheboro, NC- Hospice of Randolph County would like to congratulate six staff members who recently received NBCHPN* certification in Hospice and Palliative Care.

Susan Short, R.N., B.S.N., CHPN, Director of Palliative Care Education at Hospice of Randolph commented, “In the nursing field, one way to validate expertise is through certification as a nursing specialist. Certification involves a process that validates and evaluates one's expertise in a specialty area. While licensure assures minimal competency to practice in a field, certification indicates mastery of a defined body of knowledge. This achievement also assures that the patients of Hospice of Randolph County are receiving top-notch care from highly qualified individuals.”

The following individuals received either certification or re-certification:

Renee Acquilin, R.N., CHPN

Ann Brady, C.N.A., CHPNA

Fran Brickhouse, C.N.A. II, CHPNA

Rebecca Hinson, R.N., CHPN

Julie Parker, C.N.A., CHPNA

Peggy Truesdell, C.N.A., CHPNA
