DONATIONS REQUESTED FROM OUR COMMUNITY....
The Randolph Hospice House is in need of boxes of facial tissues (i.e. Kleenex) as well as snack items for the three family rooms in the facility.
All of these items will benefit family members who are spending time at their loved one's bedside. Items such as single serving packets of chips, peanuts, nutri-grain bars, fruit snacks, and puddings offer support and encouragement to these family members during a difficult time. Bottled water donations are also appreciated. ** Please note, NO peanut butter crackers are needed at this time.**
Individuals, church groups, and civic groups are invited to assist with this special opportunity to show compassion to those in our community during a time when they are away from home.

Asheboro, N.C. - If you are looking for a way to make a difference in someone’s life and give back to our community, we have the perfect opportunity! Hospice of Randolph County is currently recruiting volunteers to serve in various roles within the organization, which include office work, practical work (possible handyman work on our campus), maintaining outside flowers, scrubs, bird feeders and lite landscaping or providing emotional support to a patient and/or respite to a caregiver either in the home, skilled or assisted-living facilities, or at The Randolph Hospice House. These special volunteers provide support, compassion, companionship and a listening ear to patients and families receiving hospice care. Your time and talents are much needed in allowing Hospice of Randolph County to increase their specialized care and quality of life to all they serve and will be sincerely appreciated by the lives you touch.
For those interested in volunteering in one of these areas, Hospice of Randolph County provides all needed training as part of monthly orientation sessions.

The Denton FarmPark is pleased to announce plans for the 5th Annual Tractor Ride as a kick-off for the 46th Annual Southeast Old Threshers’ Reunion. Hospice of Randolph County has been chosen as the recipient of proceeds from this year’s Tractor Ride. The Denton FarmPark added this event as a way to give back to the community by helping a local nonprofit organization. Tim Loflin, Event Coordinator shared, “Everyone has had a close family member or friend who has been touched by hospice care and we want to give back to them for the care they provide in our community.” Hospice of Randolph County’s own Sandi Hopkins, RN, Community Liaison, will serve as the Tractor Ride’s Grand Marshall in recognition of her many years of service to Denton and the surrounding communities.
The Tractor Ride will cover 18 miles of beautiful countryside in both Davidson and Randolph Counties. Registration before the event is strongly encouraged, especially for tram riders, but not required. The registration fee of $25 per tractor/individual and $35 for a tram ride includes one t-shirt and a meal. You may register with cash, check or credit card before the event but only with cash or check on event day. All participants must arrive at the Denton FarmPark between 7:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. on June 30, 2016. The event will begin with an opening ceremony at 9:00 a.m. and the ride will begin promptly at 9:30 a.m. For more information about the event as well as to register a tractor or as a tram ride participant, please contact Denton FarmPark at 336.859.2755.
In addition to the Tractor Ride, the Denton FarmPark will host a live auction on Friday, July 1, beginning at 6:00 p.m. The proceeds from the auction will also benefit Hospice of Randolph County. Auction items include a 2016 Daytona 500 cap autographed by Richard Petty, a #43 cap autographed by Richard Petty, a Richard Petty "Charlie One Horse" Cowboy Hat autographed by Richard Petty, a pottery bowl from DK Clay Pottery in Sanford, a "Bird Wildlife" theme basket, a Ken Helser matted and framed print, a 4-quart electric ice cream maker, a piece of pottery from Piney Woods Pottery in Seagrove, a Pedal Tractor, a $500 gift certificate to Loflin Fabrication, a one-of-a-kind Tractor Ride painted pottery plate by Cagle Road Pottery in Seagrove and more.

Julia Griffin’s passion for giving back to Hospice of Randolph County began with her personal experience with our care in 1997. Her second child, Tommy, was born in December of 1997 with a very rare congenital heart defect, known as pulmonary atresia, with a ventricular septal defect that would need open heart surgery before he reached six months of age. After spending the first ten days of his life at DUKE Children’s Hospital, the doctors arranged for Hospice of Randolph County’s Kids Path program to help provide care for him at home until surgery could be completed. In the weeks that followed, the Kids Path nurses provided medical care for Tommy while also emotionally supporting Julia and her family through hugs, prayers and encouragement. “Just knowing how much they cared helped me stay strong each day and better prepared to face whatever the outcome was going to be at that time,” Julia shared. Tommy lost his life shortly after his open heart surgery in February of 1998. Although he only lived a little over two months, he changed their lives forever.
In an effort to keep his memory alive and to give back to the organization that helped her family during this difficult time, Julia donates annually to Hospice of Randolph County’s Caterpillar’s Quest grief camp for children. These donations have made it possible for hundreds of grieving children to receive support. In addition to this ongoing support, Julia made a generous gift to Hospice of Randolph County for the establishment of a new Marketing Outreach Center, in loving memory of her son, Tommy. “We are honored to receive Julia’s support which allowed our vision to become a reality,” shares David Caughron, Director of Marketing and Development for Hospice of Randolph County. The Thomas O’Briant III Marketing Outreach Center opened on May 17 and was celebrated with a private dedication ceremony. The Center will be home to the HRC employees that educate local hospitals, facilities and physicians about the services available throughout our county. “We are excited that the Center will not only give us a new uplifting space for those we serve to share their ‘Hope Testimonials’ but also a creative work area for developing new outreach opportunities for those who may be interested in planned giving programs in support of our organization. Remembering Tommy will give us inspiration each day as we reach out and support the surrounding community,” states Caughron.

Award criteria were based on Hospice CAHPS survey results for an evaluation period of April through September 2015. In order to receive the award, hospices must have partnered with Deyta Analytics, a division of HEALTHCAREfirst, as their survey partner and must have had at least one complete survey returned in each quarter of the evaluation period. Award recipients were identified by evaluating hospices’ performance on a set of 24 quality indicator measures. Individual hospice performance scores were aggregated from all surveys with a final survey status of complete for the evaluation period and were compared on a question-by-question basis to a national performance score calculated from all partnering hospices contained in Deyta Analytics’ Hospice CAHPS database.

William Willard to Host Gospel Concert Benefiting Hospice of Randolph County
ASHEBORO – Kick off the summer season and support a great cause in our community by joining us for a special gospel concert featuring William Willard. The concert will be held on Saturday, June 11, at the historic Sunset Theatre (234 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro) at 7:00 p.m. and will benefit Hospice of Randolph County. Concert tickets are $10 each and can be purchased in advance at Hospice of Randolph County (416 Vision Drive in Asheboro), the Randolph Hospice House (446 Vision Drive in Asheboro), or at the door before the concert.
Hospice of Randolph County is truly honored to receive the proceeds from this gospel concert. When asked his reason for supporting this organization, William Willard shared, “When it feels like there is no hope, hospice is always there to reassure you that there is always hope. Hospice of Randolph County did this for my family and I encourage you to let them share hope with your family also. You won’t regret it.”
Over the last 33 years, Hospice of Randolph County has supported over 18,000 individuals through their hospice, home health and grief support services. Recently, Hospice of Randolph County had the opportunity at two different events to recognize outstanding employees and volunteers for special achievements in 2015. At the annual Employee Appreciation Banquet held at the Exchange, Tammy White- Finance Assistant, Alan Caesar- Randolph Hospice House Dietary and Shelley Kirby- BSW, each received a HRC Service Award for making a difference with exceptional customer service. Carmen Pippin, RN, received the Integrity & Accountability Award. Tena Ritter, RN, received the Learning & Teaching Award and Kathy Isom, LPN, received the “Employee’s Choice” Heart of Hospice Award.
At the annual Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast catered by Snyder Farms Restaurant on April 16, Lisa Huffman, Volunteer Coordinator, presented awards to Juanita Williamson for 290 volunteer hours in homecare and to Stella Golebak for 414 volunteer hours at the Randolph Hospice House. Huffman also presented a milestone award to Dorothy Wilson for 10 years of volunteer service to Hospice of Randolph County.

Caterpillar's Quest Grief Camp Scheduled for May 21, 2016Posted on Apr 19th, 2016 | Perma Link
Hospice of Randolph County’s Kids Path® program which offers support services for children and teens, announced today that the 13th Annual Caterpillar’s Quest Children’s Bereavement Camp will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Caraway Conference Center & Camp in Asheboro. The day will begin at 9:00am and will end at 3:00pm.
Caterpillar’s Quest is a camp experience designed to assist children and teens (from kindergarten through 8th grade) in coping with the death of a loved one. The camp itinerary will include a variety of recreational activities such as a zip-line, canoeing, ropes courses, wall-climbing and more. In addition to these activities, campers will be given the opportunity to share their feelings through art, drama, and group discussions. The camp will culminate with a memorial service at the end of the day.
This camp is offered to the public with a $10 registration charge per child. Pre-registration is required. Camp applications and registration fees are due by May 5, 2016.
