Our largest fundraiser of the year is just around the corner! The Auction & BBQ is held annually on the first Saturday of November. This exciting event includes a BBQ dinner, silent auction and live auction. The Auction & BBQ has continued to grow every year with more auction items, higher attendance and increased fundraising. Last year’s event set a new record and raised $83,000! “We have a few surprises in store as we celebrate Hospice of Randolph County’s 35th anniversary, “shared Lisa Huffman, Special Events Coordinator. “This year’s Auction & BBQ will be our best one yet!”
The Auction & BBQ will be held on Saturday, November 3, at Southwestern Randolph High School located at 1641 Hopewell Friends Road in Asheboro. BBQ plates will be prepared and served by the Randolph County Livestock & Poultry Association from 3:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Dinner tickets are $10 (dine-in or take-out) and can be purchased at the event or in advance at our office located on Vision Drive in Asheboro. Those dining at the event will enjoy the musical talents of Larry Davis. The silent auction will begin at 3:30 p.m. and will showcase a wide variety of items including pottery, home décor, specialty cakes and gift certificates. Certain silent auction items will have a “Buy it Now!” option and may be purchased immediately for a set price. Other silent auction items may be purchased by the highest bidder following the close of the silent auction tables, beginning at 6:00 p.m.
The live auction will begin at 6:45 p.m. and will showcase new furniture, antiques, sports memorabilia, beautiful pottery pieces from local potters and much more. Cindy Farmer of FOX-8 WGHP will be our Celebrity Guest Auctioneer and WKXR Radio’s Larry Reid will be our Guest Announcer. We have thoroughly enjoyed the enthusiasm each of these individuals brings to our auction and we are honored for them to return this year.
Those wishing to participate in the live auction will need to register and receive their bid card in the school gymnasium.
