The E-Series: Toxic Positivity

In this episode, Trent Cockerham, CEO of Hospice of the Piedmont, is joined by one of our Hospice of the Piedmont physicians, Dr. Karen Cross. Together, Trent and Dr. Cross explore the complexities of toxic positivity and how it can be damaging to relationships, as well as some practical alternatives including strategies for being present and acknowledging the suffering of others.

Guest Bio: Dr. Karen Cross has worked in the field of Hospice & Palliative Medicine for 30 years at hospice organizations in Oregon, Nevada and North Carolina.  She has served on the board of the American Academy of Hospice & Palliative Medicine and is currently an associate editor for the Journal of Palliative Medicine.  Presently, she is a physician with Hospice of the Piedmont and works with hospice patients and their family, friends and caregivers.
